series. Grace and Form

date. March 2019

city. Atlanta, GA

In many ways I think great work comes from play, experimentation, and spontaneity. Often it is in those moments that we find direction and inspiration. While conducting this shoot, I tried playing with different lighting techniques and angles, positions of the dog, and crops. Each time was rather unsatisfied with the results. I knew I wanted to capture the grace and form of the dog’s figure, but something just wasn’t quite right. Then, as if by accident, my dog Kora bounced in mid air and I captured the shot, which inspired the rest of my shoot. In that moment it came flooding in–form and grace, displayed even clearer through the movement, all at once.
